Dreadlocks Myriothela tentaculata
Peter has seen this species at various Atlantic dive sites, while Georgina has seen it in the middle of False Bay, at Whittle Rock. It has now been seen at about 20m depth at Coral Gardens, Rooi Els. The range is thus now from at least Vulcan rock to Rooi Els. See the "Q and A" section, 26 June, for the whole story of this odd-looking creature. Clown anemone Regularly seen at western False Bay dive sites like A-Frame, this undescribed species has now been seen at Percy's, Rooi Els, and Oudekraal as well. While at A-Frame it is found consistently between the hold fast of kelp, the one at Percy's was found in the middle of a sponge, and the one at Oudekraal was close to kelp, but not directly between it. See the "Q and A" section, 10 July, for more photos and information. |
